Plan film location protection with a mat calculator, scout checklist and answers about floor coverage, Atlanta service, install timing and wrap-out.

BOARD BROTHERS / RESOURCES

Start with your measurements. Bring us the surfaces, the schedule, and the details. We’ll help connect the dots.

01 / LAYOUT PLANNER

## GET A HANDLE ON YOUR COVERAGE.

Choose 3 × 5 or 4 × 6 mats and estimate your count. Measure rooms or enter square footage, then count the corners and door frames along the route.

02 / BEFORE THE SCOUT

## SIX THINGS TO HAVE READY.

A few useful details help turn a rough idea into a workable layout.

[Download the scout checklist ↓](https://www.boardbrothersga.com/location-checklist.txt)

- **The location.** City, type of space, working areas, and access route.

- **The surfaces.** Flooring, carpet, walls, stairs, trim, and existing condition.

- **The measurements.** Room sizes, corridor runs, exposed corners, and door frames.

- **The movement.** Crew traffic, carts, equipment, tight turns, and load-in points.

- **The timing.** Install window, working dates, adjustments, and strike.

- **The restrictions.** Property requirements, attachment limitations, and areas that must stay accessible.

03 / A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

## BEFORE WE ROLL.

### What is layout protection for a film location?

Layout protection is temporary coverage for the property where filming takes place. Floor mats, layout board, corrugate, corner guards, stair coverings, and other materials help protect existing surfaces along crew and equipment routes. The layout is planned around the location and the production schedule.

### Do you provide layout protection in Atlanta?

Yes. Board Brothers of Georgia works with film and television productions in Atlanta, metro Atlanta, and across Georgia. Share the location, protection needs, and schedule so we can confirm materials and crew availability.

### Can you handle delivery, installation, on-set support, and pickup?

We coordinate material delivery, layout installation, on-set adjustments, and wrap-out or pickup. Tell us which stages need crew support and provide the install and wrap windows; staffing and timing are confirmed for each job.

### Can the calculator give me an exact order?

It gives you a planning estimate. Room mode rounds each room to a uniform grid of whole mats; area mode divides square footage by nominal mat area. Neither replaces a location-specific layout review.

### Should I use 3 × 5 or 4 × 6 mats?

The room dimensions, access route, and obstacles matter. Switch between mat sizes in the calculator to see which works for your coverage. Share the location details so we can discuss what fits the job.

### What do the corner and door-frame counts mean?

They count the places needing protection. A door frame may require multiple pieces, and exposed corner heights vary. We confirm product quantities after reviewing the location.

### What is the difference between carpet liner and film?

They are different protection options with different applications. Tell us the carpet type, traffic, and duration rather than selecting a material from a photo alone.

### Can you work around furniture that stays in place?

Include existing furniture and fixtures in the scout notes. Our work examples show layouts around occupied spaces. We’ll discuss access and suitable protection for your location.

### Do you support productions outside Georgia?

Georgia is home. For work beyond the state, contact us with the location, scope, and schedule so we can confirm availability and logistics.
